Dropped in on Howard at the end of last week, well when I say dropped in its around a four hour drive from Cheshire to Norfolk! Went to see how the present varieties are doing and just which have been improved or can be improved for the future along with having an early look at some potential new introductions.
Howard's varieties within Brilliantgardens.com include Double Cream, Fruits of the Forest, Frilly Oranges & Lemons and Greensleeves.
I have to say these are all looking great at the growers, however we do need to do some work here and there.
We always have a large number of potential new lines, from these you may have something or you may have nothing in the way of new introductions, there is always a certain amount of luck involved particularly with Primroses!
However this year at Howard's we have been very lucky, there is around 10 new lines we will move forward with over the next couple of years.
We would hope to see some of these introduced for 2010 flowering but will depend on how seed we can produce - here's hoping!
